Wilmington police officers began preparing citations for reckless operation of a motor vehicle and no helmet, while another officer ran the vehicle identification number.

Hours after House Speaker John Boehner's so-called "Plan B" to solve the fiscal cliff fell apart last night, Rep. Mike McIntyre (D-7th District) says he's confident a deal will be reached soon. McIntyre spoke to WWAY by phone this morning shortly after arriving home in North Carolina after the House recessed for Christmas.

North Carolina's unemployment rate dropped slightly in November from a month earlier as the state gained nearly 35,000 new jobs.
The state Commerce Department released figures Friday showing that the rate dropped to 9.1 percent from 9.3 percent in October.
