videoThe Wilmington Hammerheads desperately needed a win on Sunday afternoon, but the Pittsburgh Riverhounds proved to be stingy hosts. The Riverheads edged the Hammerheads 2-1. At the British Open Phil Mickelson won in comeback fashion on Sunday at Muirfeld. Former Laney Buccaneer Tamera Young led Chicago in scoring over the weekend in a WNBA game against New York. Barth has been placed on the reserve/non-football injury list due to a tear of his right Achilles tendon. The Wilmington Sharks won on Wednesday night. videoTrot Nixon no longer plays professional baseball, but he remains involved in baseball by coaching his youngest son's youth baseball team. Nixon's Supper Optimist squad will compete in the SE Regional starting this Thursday in Virginia. Wilmington Post 10 secured a spot in the state legion tournament with a playoff win on Tuesday over Whiteville Post 137. Plus more!

WWAY's Monday night sports - July 15; Devoted Wilmington Sharks employee dies at ballpark

videoMonday's baseball game at Buck Hardee Field was called off due to the death of Wilmington Sharks employee Kevin Cerasuolo. The death is under investigation, but it appears to be from natural causes. UNCW men's basketball coach Buzz Peterson is counting on recent transfer Addison Spruill to play a big part on the court for the Seahawks this season. Spruill recently fractured his right foot though. He'll be out at least 4-6 weeks. Plus more!
