Best 3-A high school baseball team in the east? We now have an answer. It's Topsail High School. The Pirates now get to set their sights on a state championship next week. The NCAA Baseball Regionals begin Friday all around the nation. We caught up with former Hoggard Viking pitcher Coley Thompkins to get his take on Campbell's chance at advancing in the NCAAA's. Despite recent renovations to Buck Hardee Field "Titus" the dog stole the show between innings at the Shark Tank while performing his bat boy assignment during Wednesday's home opener for the Wilmington Sharks. Two local soccer squads both lost in overtime in the state playoffs on Tuesday night. The Topsail baseball team managed to avoid defeat though. Topsail is now just one victory away from being in the state championship series next week. Full story...

The baseball season ended on Friday night for UNCW. Only two teams remain alive in the quest for a CAA Baseball Championship: William & Mary and the College of Charleston. The Wilmington Hammerheads erupted with five goals on Friday night at Legion Stadium. In the state playoffs Topsail and Whiteville both advance in the baseball state playoffs on Friday. The high school state playoffs started on Tuesday for baseball, softball and soccer. We made stops in Wilmington, Hampstead and Leland in order to check out the game action. In college baseball UNCW shutout Campbell. NC State, UNC and Duke also won in the last non-conference baseball game of the season for each squad. Plus more! Full story...

The high school state playoffs start tonight for high school baseball and softball. Soccer playoffs start later this week for most teams.
