Drivers trying to get to and from Pleasure Island should soon get a break from backed-up traffic. The NCDOT says all four lanes on Snow's Cut Bridge should be back open by this weekend.

Bridge work to close part of River Road this week

videoBridge work will mean a closure on part of River Road in New Hanover County this week. The North Carolina Department of Transportation closed River Road 2.9 miles south of Sanders Drive in both direction at 8 a.m. The closure continues until Friday at 5 p.m.

Three contentious turnpike projects are no longer included in Gov. Pat McCrory's transportation overhaul. The House Appropriations Committee adopted a new version of the bill Tuesday that removed the Cape Fear Skyway, the Garden Parkway and the Mid-Currituck Bridge from the plan.

Wrightsville Beach bridge closed Tuesday night

Rabon sponsors bill to raise speed limit to 75
