The National Weather Service is clearing the air about yesterday's funnel cloud over Wilmington. UNCW alerted students by issuing a tornado warning, even though one was never issued by the NWS. The storm cell caused a lot of ruckus in Wilmington monday, but with the wild weather there was some confusion. Full story...

The National Weather Service has confirmed that at least one funnel cloud was spotted near UNCW and Wrightsville Beach. The funnel clouds, though an alarming sight, did not produce any tornadoes. In response, UNCW sent out a tornado warning alert that has students and the National Weather Service wondering if it was warranted. Full story...

The report card for North Carolina schools is out, and graduation rates are up. Statewide graduation rates are up to 80 percent. That's a one-percent increase from last year. Three counties in our viewing area have exceeded the state's average graduation rate. Full story...

New Hanover County Commissioner Brian Berger has been laying low. Other than appealing his violation of a protective order, Berger has been out of the news, until he sent an email to fellow commissioners around 2:40 a.m. The email expressed Berger's disapproval of the board sending a letter of support for a head start grant.
