Events include making your own art, farm-to-table cooking demos, open market art sales, beer and wine tasting and Jack-O-Lantern painting for the kids. The event is to showcase all that Pleasure Island has to offer and support local artisans, craftsmen and businesses.

FDA: Pregnant women should eat low-mercury seafood

The Food and Drug Administration is reminding pregnant women to stay away from certain fish that can be high in mercury. But the agency won't require package labeling on mercury content, which is what consumer groups had sought.

North Carolina's seafood harvest dropping

videoNorth Carolina's seafood harvest is dropping. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries said the state's fish and shellfish harvest dropped last year to the lowest level in a decade.

New seafood processor creating 120 jobs in Pender County
