Crews battling wildfires in Pender County since last week have yet another fire on their hands. Over the weekend, the Blueberry Farm Fire rekindled in Sampson County and crossed into Pender. It forced residents of Lizzie Henry Road to be evacuated Saturday.

The Juniper Road Fire in the Holly Shelter Game Land continues to grow. As the fire moves across Pender County and into Onslow County voluntary evacuations are in place and shelters are open.

Crews are still battling a wildfire in Bladen County. So far that fire has spread across 1,300 acres. The forest service is working to contain it.

The wildfire in Pender County is still burning out of control. Crews are plowing multiple fire lines across the holly shelter game land in hopes of keeping the fire from crossing the highways.
It seems to be growing by the minute. Just today, the fire grew about 8,000 acres totaling more than 18,000 acres in all.

Today the Juniper Road Fire in Holly Shelter burned northeast toward Onslow County. The east flank of the fire continues to slowly burn eastward toward Highway 17 in the Sloop Point and Surf City area.
