ALE, Bladen Sheriff arrest eight on drug trafficking charges

During the past month, the Department of Public Safety's Alcohol Law Enforcement section has arrested and charged eight people with drug trafficking, larceny, forgery and other crimes following a year-long, multi-county criminal investigation. More charges are pending.

videoNew Hanover County Commissioner Brian Berger's court case on a drug charge has been continued until next year. Berger was due in court today for his charge of possession of schedule II drugs, but his attorney Buddy Allard says the case was continued until Jan. 16.

videoCourt documents we obtained today show that former New Hanover County Sheriff's Deputy Joseph Antoine LeBlanc started visiting the CVS Pharmacy on College Rd. and 17th St. with what may have been forged requests for drugs starting in November 2012. During this time, Lt. LeBlanc was second in command of the Vice and Narcotics Division.
