Irene looks to have landfall around 7:30 am Saturday just west of Cape Lookout, NC. The storm was a category one at the time, with maximum sustained winds of around 85 mph. The storm will continue to pull away from our area through the night, and be replaced by a hot and humid Sunday with a mix of sun and few clouds with light winds!

Three-day food supply from Charlotte arrives at Cape Fear Salvation Army

videoThe Salvation Army is a first responder during emergency situations such as Hurricane Irene. The Cape Fear chapter of the Salvation Army received a large shipment of food and supplies from the Charlotte Salvation chapter Friday night.

What is it about hurricanes that draws surfers to the shore like moths to the flame? When everyone else is wringing their hands about a coming hurricane, some surfers respond with glee.

Public hearings scheduled on Titan draft air permit

President declares emergency for North Carolina

FEMA announced that federal aid has been made available to North Carolina to supplement the state and local response efforts in the area due to the emergency conditions resulting from Hurricane Irene beginning on August 25, 2011, and continuing.
