Driving force behind historical marker to be honored in nation's capital

Last month a historical marker was unveiled outside Wilmington National Cemetery to honor the hundreds of US Colored Troops buried in the Port City. Next week the man behind that marker will be honored for his efforts.

Wilmington Police seize dozens of guns

Meeks joins a crowded field for Wilmington City Council that includes incumbents Laura Padgett and Ronald Sparks and former City Council member Margaret Haynes. Frank Christopher Meares, Joshua Fulton, Matt Hinson, Napier Fuller and Neil Anderson have also filed to put their name on this fall's ballot.

FIRST ON 3: Plane makes safe emergency landing at ILM

FIRST ON 3: Harry Potter premiere sold out at Regal Mayfaire

video Local Harry Potter fans have made tickets to tonight's premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 disappear. Workers at Regal Cinemas at Mayfaire say all 15 theaters at are sold out at for the midnight showings, including the 3D screening.
