Tonight is "WWAY Shirt Off Our Back" night at the Shark Tank. It's also Fat Tony's Thirsty Thursday night. On top of that the Wilmington Sharks just added a last minute promotion for tonight's magnet schedules for the Sharks.

Historical marker honors US Colored Troops in Civil War

videoGov. Bev Perdue met with President Barack Obama today, the first day of the official hurricane season. Perdue took along New Hanover County Emergency Management Director Warren Lee as well. WWAY was the only Wilmington media outlet at the White House to talk with the participants about hurricane preparedness.

The View on Water Street has been ordered to go up for public auction June 10 after the bank that provided its’ financing declared it will foreclose on the property - reports the Greater Wilmington Business Journal.

Rabies case confirmed in New Hanover County

New Hanover County Animal Control Services has confirmed the second case of rabies for the year. Last Friday, ACS was notified that a Bittern Court resident had shot and killed a raccoon that had wandered onto the property. The homeowner also reported handling the carcass without protective gloves.

Wilmington man with unique challenge creates works of art to honor victims of 9/11

video Rachard McIntyre has a special gift for art, but says he always felt a little different. He was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, a high-functioning type of Autism in his early 20’s.He started drawing and painting at the age of five and since then has devoted most nights to creating artwork.Last year he decided to create something with great personal meaning. His drawings commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
