A Pender County family is searching for answers after the death of a brother and sister. Annie and Warren Gore were found dead in their homes in Willard Saturday after complaining about flu-like symptoms. Relatives say they might know where the disease came from.

Topsail High School's principal is leaving his job after a year of controversy. Marcus Skipper has resigned effective June 30.
The principal, who had issues with the Pender County School Board earlier this school year, says he is planning to continue a career in education elsewhere.

Students in Pender County may be heading back to class early next school year. High schools starting the first week of August is one option under a proposed school calendar waiver. Both parents and teachers say they like the idea.
