Lake Waccamaw and its residents are one step closer to saving Cove Swamp.
On Wednesday, Lake Waccamaw Town Council voted to contribute $1,000 to the purchase of Cove Swamp.

We now know what killed a Columbus County woman, whose husband is charged with her murder.
WWAY has obtained the autopsy report for 29-year-old Carol Batten Dowless. It lists "asphyxiation due to strangulation" as her official cause of death.

A recent coat drive coordinated by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office was a huge success.
"Coats for Kids" has collected over five hundred coats that are ready to be distributed to children in need.
