19-year-old charged with first-degree murder after Wilmington shooting victim dies

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A 19-year-old Wilmington man is now charged with first-degree murder after a woman who was critically injured in a shooting at the Cypress Cove Apartments earlier this month died from her injuries.
Cynsire Keyasia Love was shot multiple times at the apartment complex on South Turners Run on June 16, according to Wilmington police. Officers found Love suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds and she was taken to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Love’s family previously confirmed to WWAY that she died at 11:02 p.m. on June 19.
Anthony Nasir Sincere Hardy was initially arrested in connection with the shooting on attempted murder and related charges. Following Love’s death, New Hanover County court records now show Hardy has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case.
According to the charging document, prosecutors allege Hardy “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did of malice aforethought kill and murder Cynsire Keyasia Love.”
Hardy makes his appearance in New Hanover County Superior Court on Tuesday, June 30, at 2 pm in Courtroom 100. Court records show his next court appearance is scheduled for July 16 in Courtroom 317 of the New Hanover County Courthouse.
Police have previously said early evidence indicated the shooting was domestic-related, though investigators have not released additional details about the relationship between Hardy and Love.
A family friend previously told WWAY that Love and Hardy were previously friends and that Love was shot inside her apartment. The friend also said the family was told Love suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting, and the Wilmington Police Department has not announced whether anyone else is being sought in connection with the case.
The investigation remains ongoing.
