2 former NC priests named in child sex abuse report

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — A grand jury report that was issued in Pennsylvania this week named two former priests accused of abusing children spent time in North Carolina.

This report names 301 priests, clergy and lay teachers with credible allegations against them. According to the Diocese of Raleigh‘s website, Father William Presley and Father Robert Spangenberg were listed among those who have been reported for abusing a child and the reports were found to be true.

Fr. William Presley served in the Diocese of Raleigh in Kinston from 1981 to 1983, according to the website. Fr. Robert Spangenberg served in the Diocese of Raleigh at our lady of Guadalupe in Newton Grove and Immaculate Conception in Clinton from 1977 to 1979.
