WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Holiday travelers will have more options if they fly in or out of Wilmington this Christmas.
Wilmington International Airport (ILM) announced this morning that American Airlines will offer non-stop service to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) between Dec. 23 and Jan. 7.
“Our community has expressed a strong desire to have non-stop service between ILM and DFW, and we are thankful our partners at American Airlines are offering this seasonal non-stop holiday service,” Airport Director Julie Wilsey said in a news release.
The holiday route will depart daily, except for Dec. 24, from DFW at 2:50 p.m. CT and arrive in Wilmington at 6:30 p.m. The flight will then leave ILM at 7 p.m. and arrive back in Dallas at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale.
“We’re trying to grow our market. We’re trying to boost the economy in Wilmington. And we think that this is a very good sign that there are bigger and better things for this region,” Wilsey said.
American currently offers non-stop service between ILM and Charlotte, New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Philadelphia year round and seasonal service to Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC. Delta flies from Wilmington to Atlanta.
ILM says the new route will provide well-timed connections with destinations like Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and more.
DFW is the eighth most popular origin/destination for travelers flying to and from ILM, the airport said.
