WILMINGTON, NC (News Release) — UNCW junior catcher Ryan Jeffers was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the second round of the Major League Baseball draft late Tuesday.
Jeffers, who was selected with the 59th overall pick, becomes UNCW’s highest draftee since 2008 when Brad Holt was picked by the New York Mets in the supplemental round following the first round.

Jeffers was a first-team All-CAA catcher for the second straight season and was named to the NCAA Greenville All-Regional squad.
The MLB draft continues on Tuesday.
