WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– The Foxes Boxes owner Rachel Fox has been sleeping in her restaurant since days before Hurricane Florence hit.
The local business started it’s relief by feeding neighbors with peanut butter sandwiches and is now sending families home with bags of supplies including non perishable foods, toiletries and cleaning supplies.
“You get this swell of emotion,” said Fox. “Because donations just started flying in from every which way so we knew we had to get organized and we started these wagon trains.”
Days ago, Fox says many neighbors of her restaurant were stuck in their homes with limited travelling access or immediate supplies. So, she started a wagon meal delivering service walking door to door bringing breakfast lunch and dinner directly to those who needed it. As the days continued, more neighbors joined the volunteer team.
Fox says at least one thousand people have been helped through the grassroots efforts at her restaurant thus far.
