24-inch water line break impacts Pender County schools, water customers

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A break in a 24-inch water transmission line forced seven Pender County schools to dismiss early Tuesday as customers in the affected area remain under a precautionary boil water advisory.

The water line break happened along U.S. Highway 421 near Blueberry Road.

Pender County says the break caused water pressure to drop in the affected area.

Pender County Schools dismissed students early Tuesday from seven schools:

• Cape Fear Elementary School
• Cape Fear Middle School
• Heide Trask High School
• Malpass Corner Elementary School
• Pender High School
• Pender Innovative Learning Academy
• Rocky Point Elementary School

Customers in the affected area are under a precautionary boil water advisory until repairs are completed and laboratory testing results are satisfactory.

There is currently no word on when repairs to the 24-inch transmission line will be completed.
