Two victims attacked by shark in same day at Oak Island meet

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The two victims who lost a limb in shark attacks at Oak Island in the same day this summer met for the first time the week of Christmas.

Kiersten Yow, 12, of Asheboro, was the first to be attacked in June. Then in the same day, Hunter Treschl, 16, of Colorado Springs, was attacked by a shark as well.

Yow’s parents have been posting progress updates on a Facebook support page, and Wednesday a post to the page read, “Finally got to get together with Hunter and his mom for lunch today! It was great meeting them!”

Just Tuesday, Yow started using a new prosthetic hand.
