3 Union County men charged with stabbing llama

MONROE, NC (AP) — Three men have been arrested in the stabbing and mutilation of a llama in Union County.

Sheriff’s deputies told local media outlets that 18-year-old James Robert Lee, 20-year-old Alexander Samuel Clark and 22-year-old Cody Wyatt Bray have been arrested in the investigation.

The men are charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, second-degree trespassing and cruelty to animals. It was not clear if they have attorneys.

Deputies said the men trespassed at a llama and alpaca farm in Monroe on Jan. 28.

Borderline Farms president Tammy Limer said her half dozen llamas are there to protect her 60 alpacas, which she shears once a year for fur. Limer says the 10-year-old llama Mighty died protecting her herd.
