Brunswick Town reenacts Stamp Act rebellion of 1766
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick Town and Fort Anderson site hosted thousands of people over the weekend for historical reenactments.
For three days, visitors got a living history of the 1766 Stamp Act Rebellion. The event featured blacksmiths, merchants, colonial cooks and even debates on the Stamp Act topic.
Lerae Umfleet, who dressed as a colonial character, said the event offers visitors an interactive approach to learning history.
“You can touch, feel, smell, get the smoke in your face, that really makes history come alive,” Umfleet said.
