37-year-old Wilmington man killed in crash at NC 133, I-140 interchange

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A 37-year-old Wilmington man was killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday evening at the NC 133 and I-140 interchange, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 6:39 p.m. Sept. 1 on NC 133, also known as Castle Hayne Road, near I-140.

According to the Highway Patrol, a motorcycle was exiting I-140 onto NC 133 and making a right turn when the motorcycle lost control, overturned and landed in the roadway.

An SUV and a passenger car were both traveling north on NC 133 at the time.

The SUV struck the motorcycle, while the passenger car struck debris from the crash, troopers said.

The motorcycle operator died at the scene. The victim was identified as a 37-year-old man from Wilmington, but the Highway Patrol is withholding his name out of respect for his family.

The crash involved the motorcycle, SUV and passenger car.

No charges have been filed at this time, according to the Highway Patrol.
