4 arrested after months-long drug investigation in Columbus County

TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) — Four people are facing charges following a months-long drug investigation in the Green Acres community near Tabor City.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, its Vice Narcotics Unit began investigating the distribution of illegal drugs in the community and conducted several controlled buys at a home on Pine Circle Road over the course of several months.

On Sept. 25, the Vice Narcotics Unit, with assistance from the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Division, executed a search warrant at the home.

Investigators said they seized cocaine and marijuana during the search.

Deputies arrested four people following the investigation.

Dalvin Davonta Smith, 26, of Tabor City, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana, a Schedule II controlled substance, methamphetamine and cocaine. He also faces charges of maintaining a place to keep or sell a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He received a $25,000 secured bond.

Don Cornelius Smith, 44, of Tabor City, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine and a Schedule II controlled substance, manufacturing a Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance on prison or jail premises and possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $75,000 secured bond.

Tanieka Veonka Davis, 31, of Tabor City, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. She received a $1,500 unsecured bond.

Demetrick Shi’heem Smith, 30, of Tabor City, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana, maintaining a place to keep or sell a controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He received a $15,000 secured bond.
