82nd Airborne to participate in naming ceremony
FORT BRAGG, NC (AP) — Approximately 100 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division who are currently serving and those who served in Vietnam are scheduled to participate in a ceremony that will rename a dining facility at Fort Bragg.
Tuesday’s ceremony will change the facility’s name to the Maj. Gen. Alexander R. Bolling, Jr. Dining Facility. That will be followed by a wreath laying ceremony in order to recognize the fallen Soldiers of the Golden Brigade.
The Golden Brigade was called to deploy in a rapid manner to Vietnam in order to support U.S. troops during the Tet offensive and while serving under Boling’s command. The event takes special note of the fallen paratroopers who served for a year beginning in February 1968.
