911 calls released from Red Roof Inn shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police released the 911 calls from a shooting at the Red Roof Inn Monday.

Around 4:45 in the morning, calls started coming in to New Hanover County dispatch. Police said Sharod Bryant, 24, approached a woman at gunpoint and demanded money. When the woman’s husband got involved, police said Bryant shot the man in the chest.

During one of the 911 calls, you can hear a witness saying she’s scared the shooter is still around, and might hurt her.

“Somebody was just shot outside our hotel room,” the caller said.

“OK. Yes, M’am. We’ll get him. Did you see anybody?” the dispatcher asked.

“No, but it was right outside our room. I don’t know if there is somebody still out there with a gun or something, and I’m so scared that there is going to be a gun and that he’s going to come into the room,” the caller said.

“OK. Don’t go outside. We’ve got multiple calls and officers en route,” the dispatcher said.

Bryant faces several charges including attempted first degree murder, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He is in jail under a $2 million bond.
