SHALLOTTE/WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — We had our sports cameras out and about on Tuesday night. The Hoggard boys basketball team used a handful of slam dunks to their advantage in the league opener against Topsail. The West Brunswick boys team held off a pesky Laney squad. The game was tied late in regulation until Ty Hill nailed a shot from behind the arc to lead the Trojans to a 69-66 victory. Gray Cheers led West Brunswick with a game high 34 points. Kirby Kealon did not play for Laney. This marked the second game in a row the Laney basketball standout didn’t suit up. We understand he’s no longer listed on the Laney roster.
