Second non-stop flight to NY coming to ILM
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Travelers in southeastern North Carolina will soon have another flight to the Big Apple.
Wilmington International Airport says American Airlines is adding a second direct route to New York’s Laguardia Airport. That means American will have two daily, non-stop flights between the two airports Sundays through Fridays. Saturdays will continue to have just one non-stop flight.
“In consideration of the airlines’ new business model of ‘Capacity Discipline’ where over the last several years daily domestic departures are down 14 percent and seat availability is down nine percent, it is rare to see additional air service, particularly at small to medium size airports like ILM,” Airport Director Jon Rosborough said in a news release. “We are extremely pleased to receive this announcement and thank American Airlines for their confidence in our market.”
Flights to Laguardia will leave ILM at 10:55 a.m. and 5:53 p.m. Sunday-Thursday. Saturday the departure is 2:15 p.m. Tickets are on sale for the new flight.
