Art exhibit highlights threat of coal ash pollution

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The first anniversary of the Dan River coal ash spill is coming up.

“Working Films” marked this occasion with an open house Friday night. The exhibit had paintings and a short documentary which highlighted the threat of coal ash pollution in the Cape Fear Region and across North Carolina.

Anna Lee is the Co-Director of “Working Films” who creates documentary films on social and environmental issues.

Lee said, “The idea is to use this beautiful art even though it’s about a difficult subject, but beautiful art and great film making to really help people learn more about these issues.”

February 2nd will the be the first anniversary of the Dan River coal ash spill.

There will be another chance to check it out the art on February 27 from 6 to 9 pm at the Community Action Center in downtown Wilmington.
