Rep. Rouzer meets with county leaders

Pender County, NC (WWAY) — Pender County residents and local officials met with House Representative David Rouzer Thursday to discuss county concerns.

A majority of the conversation was spent on beach renourishment and Highway 17.

The State Highway has seen an increase of accidents over the past few years and Hampstead residents have even taken those issues to Facebook.

Commissioner David Williams brought up those growing problems to Rouzer because projects on Highway 17 have not been able to get funding. Rouzer said that highway is something on this radar.

“Highway 17 is one of those issues that is incredibly inmportant you know for this area in particular,” he said. “I’m going to be working with Transportation Secretary Tony Tata as well as our other local officials to do what we need to do to help expedite that project.”

Rouzer has been meeting with his counties all week and will be in New Hanover and Brunswick Counties Friday.
