TRAFFIC ALERT: Closures on US 74/76 next week

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — You might want to plan more time for your commute next week if you live in Leland.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation said parts of US 74/76 are going to close in Leland. Starting Monday, crews will intermittently close one lane in each direction on the US 74/76 bridge over CSX railroad. Crews need to perform bridge maintenance work. The lane closures begin at 9 a.m. Monday, and will last a little more than a week.

Crews will complete the process of installing a sealant to protect the bridge surface from water, reducing corrosion that would otherwise occur. Although there will not be any detours, you are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid work crews and possible congestion.

You’re also advised to use caution while traveling in the area and to expect delays. NCDOT reminds you to watch out for signs with construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
