Free rabies vaccines for animals
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — It was a doggone good time Saturday as dog lovers came together in Leland for the 5th annual Bark in the Park.
From small to big, from white to black, pooches of all kinds along with their owners were just at Leland Municipal Park Saturday.
With spring upon us now, it's the start of the season that will be spent more so outdoors which is why the Town of Leland, Furever Friends, and the Brunswick County Animal Rescue teamed up to give out free rabies vaccinations.
"Now with some of the rabies issues we have had in the area, said Neil Brooks." Brooks is Parks and Rec Director for the Town of Leland and he says, "It's really important that we have rabies vaccination here in spring. People are going to be out and about. They are going to be out with their animals. They could potentially see other animals out, so it's really important that people get their dogs vaccinated."
