3 men busted for multiple drug charges in Brunswick County

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — According to a press release, 3 men are behind bars tonight after a one month investigation. Carleton Edwin Davis Jr. of Georgia, Jerry Wayne Dorris and Richard Grady Jackson, both of Michigan, have all been arrested for several drug charges.

Officials say the arrests occurred Friday morning on Highway 74/76 in Leland after a traffic stop on a vehicle that Davis was driving.

Officers says they seized more than 150 grams of powder and crack cocaine, 140 grams of high grade marijuana, a small amount of cash, and a handgun with ammunition. Officials noted most of the drugs were prepackaged for retail distribution. Investigators believed they were destined for Brunswick and New Hanover Counties.

According to officials, the investigation began after receiving information that Davis was conspiring with others to traffic and distribute large amounts of cocaine from Detroit, Michigan to multiple areas in southeastern North Carolina.

All three suspects were charged with 3 counts of trafficking cocaine, possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and/or deliver cocaine and marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Davis received additional charges including maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

All three suspects are being held at the Brunswick County Detention Center under a 1 million dollar secure bond. This investigation is ongoing with more arrests expected.
