AZALEA GARDEN TOUR: Starling Garden

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — There is proof that moms of three can garden, too. You just have to go to 125 Edgewater Lane in Wilmington, which is one of the stops on the Azalea Garden Tour this weekend. There you'll find a family garden with everything from a zip line to a greenhouse.

Follow the path through azaleas and camellias galore. Then stop at the field garden. It's a journey inspired by the Key West Garden Hotel in Florida. Whatever you do, don't miss the greenhouse, where Donna Starling reblooms more than 75 orchids.

"It is another oasis at the end of the day," Starling said. "We spend a lot of time, my husband and I, in there just going over the week and what's on the calendar with the three kids for the next several months."

The Starlings built the greenhouse from recycled materials. Inside, the temperature is anywhere from 0 to 90 with 60 percent humidity.

The Cape Fear Garden Club's Azalea Garden Tour runs Friday through Sunday around Wilmington.
