Concerts, wellness classes possible uses for proposed park
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington City Council got an update on the proposed North Waterfront Park in Wilmington Tuesday night as it develops a master plan to find funding.
Amy Beatty was there to discuss the newest plans, mainly the park consisting of a series of outdoor rooms for activities such as concerts, wellness classes, or corporate events. Beatty also showed a presentation that compared north waterfront park to several other, similar park designs to create the perfect outdoor park for everyone.
The city is now working on master plan for the park that will be used to help seek park funding. According to the City of Wilmington's website, that master plan will include and consider the site's history, environment conditions, surrounding development, and potential sponsorships.
From May to December of last year, the city asked for public input on what they would like to see at the park. The City of Wilmington's website said the city received 1,400 comments from public meetings, presentations, events, community centers, an online survey and social media.
