Two arrested in largest heroin bust in Brunswick Co.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office say two men are facing charges after the largest heroin bust in the county.

Deputies say the bust happened Tuesday at around 9:30 p.m. during a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 87.

Deputies say they found over three ounces of heroin, some marijuana and drug paraphernalia. They say the heroin is equivalent of 15,000 bags or bindles of the drug worth $300,000. Deputies say Michael (left) and Erik Grissett (right), 34 and 29, are both facing charges including heroin trafficking. Michael is in jail under a $3 million bond, Erik under a $1 million bond. They say the men are cousins.

Drug agent with the sheriff's office and Wilmington Police worked together in the investigation, which they say has been ongoing for several months. This investigation is still open and on-going and investigators say there could be additional arrests.
