Parts of YMCA to reopen in May

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A spokeswoman with the Wilmington Family YMCA says plans were approved to reopen parts of the facility by May. The areas include the pool and gymnasium.

Officials say on Monday, the YMCA’s Board of Directors approved funding to reopen the six-lane pool and gymnasium. There’s no official date set for the reopen, but they say the Y will host a special event to celebrate the reopening.

Preliminary cost estimates were also announced, officials said. They say the February fire cost more than $2 million in damages.
