Wilmington man sentenced for fatal crash
WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline) — A Wilmington man could spend nearly five years in prison for a crash that killed his friend last June.
Mohannad Daifallah, 26, entered an alford plea to a charge of felony death by vehicle Wednesday. An alford plea means a defendant does not admit guilt, but acknowledges enough evidence exists for a conviction.
Alex Wakeen Jr., 21, died in last September after being on life support for three months. The other passengers were hurt, but have since recovered.
Wilmington police said Daifallah was driving 70 mph on Oleander Drive near Greenville Loop Road when he lost control and the vehicle rolled around 2:30 in the morning on June 2, 2014.
