Deputies: Sex offender caught with pictures of underage girls

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says a sex offender was arrested in the area after he was discovered with pictures of underage girls.

Lt. Jerry Brewer says when deputies conducted a routine check on Daniel Luna, 56, yesterday they discovered the images. Jail records show Luna was arrested and charged with 15 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor; he’s in jail under a $150,000 bond.

Luna, registered as a repeat, lifetime sex offender, was convicted in Florida in 1988 for sex crimes against a 12-year-old girl. Luna was also convicted in Charlotte in 2013 of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
