Terrell Stanley & Trevon Brown back on football field for ECU
GREENVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Terrell Stanley used to be a beast on the football field for East Carolina. He was clearly one of the best defensive players for the Pirates. All that changed 14 months ago when Stanley nearly lost his life after an early morning single car accident on an icy road just outside Greenville.
In fact the former South Brunswick Cougar even had a statement tackle in Saturday’s Purple-Gold Spring game.
“It’s amazing,” Stanley said. “People telling me that I may never make that tackle again and for me to do it was pretty emotional for me and I enjoyed it. I am not where I need to be physically. I hope to be there by the fall.”
Former New Hanover Wildcat Trevon Brown had a heckuva freshman season for East Carolina last fall. Brown was a touchdown machine before a knee injury forced him to the sideline. Brown, just like Terrell Stanley is back, in fact Brown hauled down a touchdown reception in Saturday’s spring game at ECU.
“It’s a blessing,” Brown said. “I mean I got hurt, came back stronger, it was a setback my teammates picked me up and they feel like I can be a leader on the team so I just want to help them out and make big plays so it’ll help the whole team out.”
