Raleigh officer waited hours before getting Starbucks burn treated

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — The Raleigh police officer suing Starbucks after being burned by a cup of coffee has testified that he drove home to have the injury photographed before he sought medical care.

The News & Observer reports Wednesday officer Matthew Kohr told jurors he left the Starbucks in his police car after burning himself.

Kohr says he drove to the police garage to get his truck and then went home. There he had his wife take pictures of the burns on his inner thigh.

It wasn’t until more than two hours after the incident that Kohr went to an urgent care center, Starbucks attorney Tricia Derr emphasized. Kohr says in 2012 the lid popped off his coffee and the cup collapsed in his lap. He is suing the coffee chain for a minimum of $50,000 and as much as $750,000.
