Car hits pole, catches on fire on College Road

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Emergency crews were forced to shut down southbound lanes of College Road in Wilmington after a car crashed into a pole by Hugh Macrae park.

911 New Hanover County Dispatch said the car caught on fire after hitting the pole.

It happened around 9:15 Thursday night.

There’s no word yet on the driver or whether they were injured but a witness told WWAY that the driver was coherent when medics arrived.
