Apartment fire ruled accidental

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington firefighters say an apartment complex fire was accidental.

Fire crews there said around 7:00 p.m. Thursday a fire broke out in 1311 Wellington Avenue just off of Carolina Beach Road. Firefighters say they had it under control within 15 minutes.

Fire officials say a box fan that was left running in a bedroom caused the fire. The unit had about $100,000 in damage. The residents of the apartment were in the process of moving.
