Early-morning accident sends two to the hospital

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two people were taken to the hospital after an early-morning car crash in Wilmington.

According to Cpl. Leslie Irving with the Wilmington Police Department, the accident happened at Independence and Oleander around 1:41 a.m.

Investigators say a car hit a motorcycle and two people were transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. There is no word yet on their conditions.

The driver of the car was cited for careless and reckless driving as well as hit and run.
