WPD investigating 2 weekend armed robberies

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Investigators with the Wilmington Police Department are looking into two armed robberies that happened less than a half mile from each other.

The first was reported Saturday night at the intersection of 13th and Ann streets. A 29-year-old male driving a moped was robbed of his wallet.

The next day just after 6:00 p.m. a woman was robbed outside the Wilmington Sportsman Club. Police say she reported a man threatened to stab her, but when she screamed, he took her phone and ran off.

No injuries reported in either instance. WPD is investigating.
