Man arrested minutes after saxophone player robbed downtown


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man is due in court today on charges of robbing a musician in Downtown Wilmington.

Jail records show Craig Lazorie Freeman, 49, was arrested just before midnight last night on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon. He’s in jail under a more than $25,000 bond. The offense was reported at 27 N. Front Street.

Lt. Jerry Brewer said Freeman indicated to the victim he had a gun, but no weapon was shown. There were no injuries reported.

Deputies part of the Downtown Task Force caught Freeman a short distance from where the robbery happened minutes after the incident. Deputies say Freeman only had a few dollars.
