DWI charges dismissed against former sheriff candidate

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Charges against a former detective who ran for Pender County sheriff last year have been dismissed.

Scott Lawson was charged in April 2014 after troopers say he drove through an intersection and into a yard and hit two parked cars. Lawson, 49, was charged with DWI and reckless driving.

The Pender County Clerk of Court’s office said the case was dismissed today after blood tests failed to be submitted a year after the alleged offense.
