RALEIGH, NC (AP) — Debate on the North Carolina House budget is being pushed back another day.

The chamber had planned to meet Wednesday night to consider amendments and hold the first of two recorded votes on the two-year state government spending plan. Now Democratic and Republican leaders say they won’t begin until Thursday morning to give staff workers more time to draw up proposed amendments.

The delay means the House will likely hold an unusual Friday session for the second vote.
