Wilmington city pools say hello to warmer weather
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Today was the official first day for the Wilmington city pools, just in time for the unofficial start to the summer season.
The pools opened at noon and will stay open until 5 p.m. They will also be open on Memorial Day Monday from noon-5 p.m.
Dozens of kids and grown-ups alike donned their swimwear to jump into the water over at the pool at legion Stadium. Everyone was having a great time splashing around and enjoying the perfect weather.
Callie King has been a lifeguard for three years now with the city pools and she said her favorite part is watching the same faces come back year after year.
“I’m most excited about having the regulars come back. It’s fun to see kids as they’re growing up, this is my third summer and so, some of the kids are getting to middle school and high school and it’s just fun to play with them,” said King.
The pools will then be open Saturdays only on May 30, June 6 and June 13 noon-5 p.m. Regular pool hours begin June 15. Admission is $1 for children and $2 for adults.
