Gas leak forces evacuation of 5 Leland homes

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Some Leland residents are back home tonight after a gas leak forced them to evacuate Thursday afternoon.

It happened in the neighborhood of Brunswick Forest. Crews evacuated five homes for about 2 hours.

Emergency crews eventually repaired the leak.

Officials say a construction crew hit a gas line near Shelmore Way in the subdivision.
